As your local Goodwill prepares for Friday’s career fair at its Mission Street One-stop center, a different kind of career fair is currently underway courtesy of a wifi connection near you. Goodwill Industries’ virtual career fair is live this week and spotlighting employment opportunities from across the continent.

Large North American companies like Cintas, Marriott, Hyatt, Deloitte and OneMain Financial are all in hiring mode and participating in the virtual career fair. Folks can register here by creating a profile and uploading their résumés. You’ll be asked for your name, email address and a few yes/no questions to get started. Heck, that’s easier than creating a dating profile these days. (Not that we know anything about that. Cough.)

Whether you’re in full-on job search mode or participating in one of Goodwill’s job readiness classes, the virtual career fair offers opportunities to connect with employers to chat and network. You’ll also get details on exciting job opportunities from around the country. It’s a great way to learn about the various career options employers offer.

And the best part is you get to do it from the comfort of your home in your pajamas with a cup of coffee, if you so desire. (But ditch the My Little Pony jammies if you decide to access the virtual fair from one of the computers at our One-Stop Career Center. Unless you want an army of excited Goodwill staffers asking where you got them. That could get distracting.)

The virtual career fair is just one part of Goodwill Industries’ International Career Week taking place worldwide from May 7-11.
